Watching nonprogrammers trying to run software companies is like watching someone who doesn’t know how to surf trying to surf. Even if he has great advisers standing on the shore telling him what to do, he still falls off the board again and again.

Ideas on their own are just not that important. It’s incredibly rare that someone comes up with an idea so unique, so protectable that the success story writes itself. Most ideas are nothing without execution.
Just because you thought of a site to share photos with friends wouldn’t have made you Flickr.

In creating anything it doesn’t take long to realize that having the right tool makes the difference. And when you don’t have that tool, that is when frustration sets in and you become ineffective. As we get Mobelux up and running, we have been learning to find the right tools for the behind the scenes work that make the most sense to us. Tools that are fun to use, effective, and get the job done. Its the creation of that system of tools that takes time. Biggest lesson learned so far… just try something and get moving forward. You will quickly find if that tool is right for you or not. Example: Google Docs… not really effective tools for us:)
